Jackson Township fall cleanup, HHW collection: Sept. 28, 2019

Jackson Township, the City of Grove City, Keep Grove City Beautiful and Local Waste Services are sponsoring Jackson Township’s Fall Cleanup Sept. 28, 2019 exclusively for residents of Jackson Township, City of Grove City and village of Urbancrest.

Location: Jackson Township Administration Building (3756 Hoover Road) 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 28, 2019

Accepted: major appliances; construction materials; shrubs, bushes and yard waste for chipping; bulk trash; and tires — limit four per household

  • Ohio Mobile Shredding will offer collection for safe and secure off-site residential document shredding.
  • iRecycle electronics recycling will accept computers, printers and cell phones. 
  • Habitat for Humanity MidOhio will collect new and used home goods, home-improvement building materials from residential remodeling projects and construction projects. Go to habitatmidohio.org for more information.
  • The Grove City Noon Lions Club will collect eyeglasses, and donations for the Grove City Food Pantry and Emergency Services also will be accepted. 

SWACO’s household hazardous waste collection
Location: Kingston Center (3226 Kingston Ave.)
8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 28, 2019

Accepted: Gasoline, lighter fluid, thinners, pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, propane tanks less than 20 pounds, all types of batteries, corrosives such as drain cleaners, and oil-based and spray paints

Latex and other water-based paints can be disposed with regular trash after drying it by adding paint hardeners like cat litter or sawdust and leaving the lid off. A $1 per-can disposal fee will be charged for any water-based paint dropped off at the event.

HHW collection is open to all Franklin County residents, and a detailed list of accepted and non-accepted items is at swaco.org. Franklin County residents also can take advantage of the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio’s permanent HHW collection site at 645 East 8th Ave. (the corner of East 8th and Essex avenues) in Columbus and open Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays.
