Summer residential cleanup services begin May 18, 2020

Jackson Township canceled its May 2, 2020 spring cleanup event because of the COVID-19 health emergency. The township is providing its residents with an on-demand, summertime cleanup alternative starting May 18, 2020 through Sept. 18, 2020.

Those who live in the unincorporated area of Jackson Township, the City of Grove City or village of Urbancrest may drop off residential bulk trash, tires (limit four), scrap metal, construction materials and electronic waste at the Jackson Township administration office, 3756 Hoover Road, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, excluding the Memorial Day, Fourth of July (observed July 3, 2020) and Labor Day holidays. All residents must stop at the administration office to check in, and then they will be directed to the proper service department location for unassisted unloading.

Residents also have the option to contact the township’s solid-waste hauler, Local Waste Services, to schedule year-round, bulk-trash pickup services by submitting online service requests at localwasteservices.com/residential or calling (614) 409-9375. A list of items not collected by Local Waste is available at localwasteservices.com.

Brush and yard waste will be picked up by Jackson Township service crews in the unincorporated area of the township during the following dates: May 26-29, 2020; June 22-26, 2020; July 27-31, 2020; Aug. 24-28, 2020; and Sept. 21-25, 2020. Placed brush and yard waste along the roadside of your township property for pickup during designated collection weeks. City of Grove City and village of Urbancrest residents should check with their municipalities for pick-up times and requirements.

Yard waste also may be dropped off at no charge weekdays (excluding holidays) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Columbus Com-Til facility at 7000 Jackson Pike (State Route 104). An informational flier is available at jacksontwp.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Com-til-yard-waste-dropoff-flier.pdf

Complimentary paper shredding will not be available until the township’s Sept. 26, 2020 fall cleanup event, but residents may contact Ohio Mobile Shredding at (614) 236-1979 or info@shredohio.com to inquire about its drop-off service.

The local Habitat ReStore at 240 N. Wilson Road in Columbus accepts items such as gently used furniture, appliances, home goods and building materials. Drop off food donations at the Grove City Food Pantry at 2710 Columbus St. in Grove City, Ohio.
