Greg Rudduck: Jackson Township Division of Fire Firefighter of the Year

The Jackson Township Division of Fire Firefighter of the Year award will be formally presented at  the 7 p.m. May 20, 2014 Jackson Township Board of Trustees meeting at 3756 Hoover Road in Grove City.

Celebrating his five-year anniversary working full-time for the fire department May 26, 2014, firefighter/paramedic Greg Rudduck was nominated by his peers for the annual award sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Grove City.

“His work ethic in the station and on scenes reflects Greg’s motivation, maturity and positive attitude,” according to the peer nomination letter. “He volunteers for less-desirable assignments and provides service to the community with respect, empathy and sincerity.”

Rudduck’s employment folder is filled with a distinguished service award for rescuing children trapped upstairs in a house fire, certificates noting perfect attendance and thank you notes from residents. He is a member of the Central Ohio Strike Team, a rescue technician and child passenger seat technician. Rudduck is most noted for his tireless volunteer efforts for the Firefighter for Kids toy drive.

“I think he is a fantastic individual, and he represents the best of the fire department,” said Jackson Township Division of Fire Chief Rick Dawson. “He cares about kids. He cares about people and works hard when he’s on duty.”

Rudduck lives in Reynoldsburg, Ohio with his wife and five children.

“This award really means a lot especially being nominated by the crew I work with,” Rudduck said.
