The beautiful landscaping at Jackson Township Division of Fire’s new Station 204, 4900 Buckeye Parkway in Grove City, will be a flourishing reminder of the hard work and dedication by a team of Jackson Township employees who are working tirelessly planting more than 50 Holly shrubs and Knock-Out rose bushes, and Colorado Blue Spruce trees on the grounds at the new fire station.

Deputy Chief Rick Dawson, Jackson Township Service Department staff Tony Mowery, Bob Snyder and Pat Stage purchased plants, moved dirt, dug holes, planted trees and shrubs, and fertilized. The team began its project Nov. 15, 2013 but still has more work to do including planting an Ohio Buckeye tree.

Dawson has a horticulture degree from The Ohio State University but pursued a career in the fire service.

“We are amateur landscapers but saved the project at least $5,000 in labor costs if not more,” Dawson said. “We are planting a lot of flowering bushes and beautiful trees to make the station as eye-appealing as possible.”

Station 204 is tentatively scheduled to open in December 2013 pending final construction. The new station will be 10,000 square feet, and home to a sophisticated new Horton emergency squad and impressive Pierce Saber pumper.
